What Time Do You Need to Order By?

Our general cutoff for same-day delivery is 12:30 PM Monday through Friday. On Saturdays, we cut off around 11:00 AM. These are the cutoff times reflected on our website at milanoflorist.com.

That said, delivery is area-dependent and depends on how busy we are that day. If you’re cutting it close or ordering after the website cutoff, the best thing to do is call us directly at (614) 889-1001. We’ll tell you honestly whether we can make it happen.

Orders that come in at 9:30 or 10:00 in the morning are much easier to work with than ones that arrive at 12:15. The earlier you order, the smoother everything goes — for you, for us, and for the person receiving the flowers.

When your order comes in (online or by phone), we identify what you want and work it into our design production schedule alongside everything else going out that day.

We prioritize based on time sensitivity. A funeral arrangement has to leave earlier than a home delivery. A business drop-off has to account for closing time. Our designers are working on your order, our driver is routing deliveries, and sometimes — when the day gets busy — I’ll get in the car myself to make sure something gets there on time. We’ve even put a second vehicle on the road when the schedule demanded it.

As with any local delivery service, we plan our routes to make sure every order arrives on time. Deliveries to businesses, schools, hospitals, and funeral homes often have specific timing requirements, so those are carefully scheduled throughout the day. That's one reason we always recommend ordering as early as possible—it gives us the greatest flexibility to deliver your flowers when they're needed.

Home deliveries are generally the most flexible because there’s no hard deadline. Businesses and schools are a different story. If it’s going to someone’s workplace, let us know what time they get off — we don’t want to arrive at 2:55 for someone who leaves at 3:00 (and might have left 15 minutes early). If it’s a school, we try to deliver earlier in the day to avoid the chaos of bus pickup and aftercare.

The recipient’s phone number

This is more important than most people realize. We’ve started calling it the “Amazon effect” — people got so used to packages arriving during COVID that they often hear the doorbell and think, “I’ll get it later.” We need a phone number so our driver can give the recipient a quick heads-up that flowers are at the door. It also helps us confirm we’re at the right address and handing things off to the right person.

What you’re looking for

You don’t need to have everything figured out before you call. We’ll walk you through it. Do they have a favorite flower? A favorite color? What’s the occasion? What’s your budget? We ask the right questions — that’s our job. But the more you already know, the faster we can get your order moving.

The Biggest Misconception About Ordering Flowers

A lot of people assume you need to order flowers days or even a week in advance. That’s simply not true — at least not at a real local florist.

We have professional designers in our shop every single day. We’re equipped to handle same-day requests and do it well. We’re not scrambling — this is exactly what we’re set up for.

The one exception is around major floral holidays like Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day. During those windows, we do have to restrict same-day orders because the volume is so high. Our commitment to customers who preordered comes first — making the arrangement is only half of it; getting it there on time is the other half. Outside of those holidays, same-day is very much on the table.
