Hospital Flower Delivery in Central Ohio

Sending flowers to someone in the hospital is one of the simplest ways to let them know you're thinking of them. Because hospital delivery works a little differently than home delivery, here's what to expect when you order from Milano's UpTowne Florist.

How hospital flower delivery works

Once your order is placed, we call the hospital directly to verify the patient's information and confirm the unit's current policy on fresh flowers and plants. Some units, particularly ICU and certain oncology floors, restrict fresh flowers for patient safety. If your recipient can't receive flowers in their room, we'll reach out to you to arrange an alternative, such as a balloon or plant gift.

Flowers are delivered to the hospital's front desk or designated delivery area. Hospital staff then take the arrangement to the patient's room, in accordance with each hospital's internal procedures.

What to send to someone in the hospital

A compact, low-maintenance design is usually the best choice for a hospital room. Smaller arrangements fit easily on a bedside table or windowsill, and many hospital units prefer designs that don't require much water changing or upkeep. Plants and balloon arrangements are good alternatives when fresh flowers aren't permitted on a unit.

    New baby and maternity flowers

Several of the hospitals we deliver to, including Riverside Methodist Hospital, Grant Medical Center, and Mount Carmel East, have dedicated maternity and birthing centers. If you're celebrating a new arrival, we can design a fresh arrangement to welcome the baby and congratulate mom, delivered right to the maternity floor. Call ahead so we can confirm the unit's current visitor and delivery policy, since maternity floors sometimes have different procedures than the rest of the hospital.

    Same-day hospital delivery

We offer same-day flower delivery to most Central Ohio hospitals when ordered by our daily cutoff. Because hospital verification takes extra time, ordering earlier in the day gives us the best chance to confirm details and deliver before visiting hours end.

How we make sure it gets there right: Before every hospital delivery, we call ahead to confirm the patient's room and the unit's current policy — a step some florists skip by just dropping off at the front desk. We also send you a photo once your delivery is complete, so you know it arrived. When you order, please use the patient's full legal name, since that's how hospitals check patients in.

Want to add something extra? Balloons, a plush keepsake, or a box of chocolates can be added to your order at checkout.

    Frequently asked questions

Can I send flowers to someone in the hospital without knowing their room number?

Yes. We only need the patient's name and the hospital location. Our team verifies the room number directly with hospital staff before delivery.

Do all hospital units allow fresh flowers?

No. Some units, including many ICUs and certain oncology floors, restrict fresh flowers for patient safety. We confirm the unit's policy before delivering and will contact you if an alternative gift is needed.

Will the flowers be delivered directly to the patient's room?

We deliver to the hospital's front desk or designated delivery area. Hospital staff then bring the arrangement to the patient's room according to their internal procedures.

Can I get same-day hospital flower delivery?

In most cases, yes, when ordered by our daily cutoff. Same-day availability can vary based on hospital verification time and delivery volume.

What if the patient has already been discharged?

If a patient is discharged before delivery, we'll contact you to arrange delivery to their home or another location instead.
